Rekha Rana looks after her two children by earning money from stitching. Her husband, like many others from the village, is a taxi driver in New Delhi. On March 30 of last year, Rekha received an envelope containing a picture — a woman standing with a man, both naked, and the woman’s face replaced with Rekha’s. Since there is only one photographer in the village who could have had a digital image of Rekha, she filed a police complaint against him. After interrogation, Salman admitted morphing Rekha’s face into the obscene picture. His computer has been seized.

Rekha is now having to face continuous threats from Salman’s relatives: “They said that since I have framed their son, they will also frame her husband,” Rekha said.
